Bears in the Caviar is a hilarious and insightful memoir by a diplomat who was “present at the creation” of US-Soviet relations. "Bears in the Caviar" is an interesting report on Charles Thayer's adventures in 1934 as an embassy aide and ambassador to Russia and Afghanistan, accompanied at times by a Chinese servant, four dogs, a horse and a falcon.
